Pro Tips for SSC Success

Strict Spectacles Ban

SSC has a zero-tolerance policy for spectacles. Even normal reading glasses must be removed for the application photo.

No Caps or Mufflers

Caps, hats, or religious head coverings are allowed only if they do not cover any part of the face. Forehead must be visible.

Both Ears Visible

Both ears must be clearly visible in the photograph. Ensure your hair is tucked behind your ears.

Common Rejection Mistakes to Avoid

Wearing Reading Glasses

SSC has a strict rule: photos with spectacles of any kind (even normal power glasses) are immediately rejected. Take the photo without glasses.

Mouth Open or Smiling

Smiling, displaying teeth, or an open mouth in the photo can cause the biometric verification algorithm to flag your file.

Ears Not Visible

If your hair covers your ears or forehead, the SSC portal system will reject the photo. Keep ears exposed.

Official Photography & Scanning Guidelines

Remove Spectacles: Even if you wear prescription glasses daily, you must remove them for the SSC application photo.
Keep Ears Fully Exposed: Tuck hair behind your ears. Face must be centered.
Ensure White Background: Use a clean, flat white or very light grey wall backdrop. No textures or patterns.
No Caps or Hats: Avoid wearing caps, mufflers, hoods, or headbands. Keep head uncovered.

Frequently Asked Questions about SSC Photos

Q.Can I wear glasses in the SSC CGL/CHSL photo?

No. SSC strictly prohibits wearing spectacles of any kind in the application photograph. Photos taken with glasses will lead to immediate rejection.

Q.How old can the SSC photograph be?

The photo must be taken within 3 months of the notification release date. The photo should represent your current physical appearance.

Q.What is the SSC signature requirement?

Signatures must be 4.0 cm x 2.0 cm, with a file size between 10 KB and 20 KB in JPEG format.

Q.Is a print date required on the SSC photo?

No. SSC discontinued the requirement to print the photo date at the bottom of the image. A plain formal passport photo is now standard.

Q.Can I upload a live-captured webcam photo?

For some exams (like SSC GD/CGL), the portal captures a live photo. However, you still need to upload a standard passport photo matching the same rules.

Why use our SSC Resizer?

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has some of the highest application rejection rates due to non-compliant photographs. The ban on spectacles is strictly enforced. Our SSC resizer is updated with the latest SSC rules, reminding you of glasses/caps bans and resizing documents to the correct formats.
